Sports Night

A more diverse playlist has emerged since my last, but this amalgamates some truly unique artists. (Sorry to those of you looking for the classic, yet short-lived TV show, Sports Night.) Remember: top 5 and more mp3s after the jump.
10. Cheech and Chong-Basketball Jones. “Bassa-ball jones, I got a bassa-ball jones, oh baby ooo-ee-ooooo” and “That basketball was like a basketball to me.” Something tells me these guys weren’t really singing about a ball, per se.
9. Gear Daddies-Zamboni Song. Senator Amy Klobuchar’s unofficial campaign theme song for her victorious 2006 campaign. She used the song claiming these were the biggest celebrities she knew. Pure class. “Yeah, I wanna drive the zamboni. I wanna drive the zamboni. Yes I do.”
8. Jack Johnson-Mudfootball. “Over to the field for tackle football.” While the song fits the playlist, the best part of this song is the Culture Club toss-out at the 1:20 mark.
7. Camper van Beethoven-Take the Skinheads Bowling. Title as lyrics. Used to perfection in Michael Moore’s Bowling for Columbine; for me the two are now inseparable.
6. The Decemberists-The Gymnast, High Above the Ground. Title as opening lyrics. From Her Majesty LP. (more…)

Sexy Songs
So I realized, after reviewing the blog, that both of the News Beat’s, our new feature, posts had to do with sexual relations. Granted, one was with a middle-aged political two-face and the other had to do with teenage hornballs, but still, a common thread emerged. In that vein we find ourselves with our latest playlist: songs with the word SEXY in the title. Check out the list and click on the titles for MP3s (artists to buy).
10. Dress Sexy at My Funeral by Smog. Sentiment for a pervert wannabe. “Dress sexy at my funeral, my good wife: for the first time in your life.”
9. She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy by Kenny Chesney. Beautiful country trash, for those nights in rural USA when you need some good drunk dancin’ with a purdy gal. “She thinks my tractor’s sexy; it really turns her on. She’s always starin’ at me; while I’m chuggin’ along.”
8. Sexy Plexi by Jack Johnson. A little Latin love from JJ. “Sexy, sexy do your thing.”
7. Super Sexy Woman (Live at Lee’s Palace) by Sufjan Stevens. I’ve only heard this live version, but it is good enough to round out the seven spot on the list. “She’s got super power eyes; sexy as a television.” Bizarre enough for me.
6. Sexy Sadie by The Beatles. “Sexy Sadie, what have you done? You’ve made a fool of everyone.” As every sexy woman does. “You’ll get yours yet.” (more…)
