Pitchfork April Fool’s Roundup
Pitchfork gathered April Fool’s pranks from musicians (usually just in the form of wacky rumors). My favorite is about Coldplay:
Who: Coldplay
The “big news”: Coldplay and producer Brian Eno plan to record in zero gravity on a specially-designed Boeing 727.
Believability: You mean those “Viva La Vida” strings were recorded in regular gravity?
Would it be cool if this was real? Yes, if only to see guitarist Jonny Buckland’s hat fly off his head to reveal a very tiny version of the Edge’s head.
So should you fall victim to a musical rumor or any other prank, just take some advice from Coldplay

The Sun reviews Coldplay’s Viva La Vida
London’s The Sun, the first major news source to get its grubby little hands on the new Coldplay album, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, has nothing but good things to say about the English band’s fourth studio album:
I can bring you the first full review of the new COLDPLAY CD, out on June 12.
And I think epic is the word. The full title — Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends — should have been a clue.
The band have really pushed the boundaries of what we expect from an album, producing a beautiful, serious and sometimes testing 45-minute disc.
It is a weak review, in my opinion, but the first of its kind.

New Coldplay MP3s, from Viva La Vida
Thanks to Pretty Much Amazing, here are two more leaked tracks from the new Coldplay album, Viva La Vida. I don’t like either of these as much as the first two that were put out, but worth a listen or three:

New Coldplay-Give a listen…
Violet Hill, the first single from the new CP album, was put out for free on their web site and will be up there for a week. But why even go there (except for some cool graphics); you can just grab the mp3 right here:
On first listen, I’m digging it big time. We’ll see what happens the second, third, and fifteenth time through. Also, the feeling I got upon first listen: sound a little like “Further on (Up the Road)” from Bruce Springsteen’s The Rising:

Sweet album cover after the jump:
