Congratulations, Barack Obama
A belated congrats to Democratic nominee Barack Obama. We here at IIG,IG have been fans for quite sometime, and his victory is our victory. Ours as in our country, not the two of us. For the record: Glen and Max do NOT claim responsibility for Barack’s victory over Hillary Clinton and the other Democratic candidates (though to be fair, when Hillary was infamously crying in front of cameras just before the New Hampshire primary, that was because of something Glen said).
So here are a couple congratulatory tunes to our next President, Barack Obama.

M@M: Sly and the Family Stone-Various
Fall asleep tonight to some rare footage of Sly and the Family Stone rehearsing. Grab a few tracks of Sly & TFS at the Fillmore East in ‘68 after the video.

Cold Cuts

It promises to be a cold summer in MN, but in NYC, the weather is hotter than a Skattum’s inner thigh in July. And so here is one chilly, glacier-sized playlist for you to melt in your mouth:
20. Al Corley-Cold Dresses. A nice mid-80s synth-driven tune.
19. The Arcade Fire-Cold Wind. From the Six Feet Under soundtrack.
18. Public Enemy-Cold Lampin’ with Flavor. I’m pretty sure this song wins the award for the most times saying “yo” in the first 30 seconds of a song. Also, references song number 6 on this list.
17. Bob Dylan-Cold Irons Bound. From the more recent album Time Out of Mind.
16. James Brown-Cold Sweat. Not the kind of cold I want right now.

Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood to Buy Dwarf Services for Daughter’s Wedding
I have no words. From NME:
According to The Sun the guitarist plans to hire the little fellas to dress up as elves and play humorous pranks on wedding guests. The plan is for the dwarves to leap out of bushes and steal ladies’ hats.
The newspaper quotes an anonymous source as saying: “They’re [Wood and his family] working on a theme based on the character of Puck – the cheeky sprite from Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.
“The idea is to have little people in costumes popping up. It’s going to be a fabulous do with no expense spared, and the elves will make it even more fun.”

Mason Jennings to Hit NYC

Honolulu-born, Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter Mason Jennings is poised to perform in New York City’s The Living Room on Wednesday night. The poor man’s Jack Johnson (who, earlier this year, signed onto Johnson’s label, Brushfire Records) has his home in Minnesota, but he clearly has an affinity for the big apple, as evidenced by this song:

Lollapalooza Countdown: 54 Days-Dr. Dog

I first heard Dr. Dog covering Architecture in Helsinki’s “Heart It Races,” and there are some days I still like it even more than the original. They have an album coming out in a few weeks, so it is wholly appropriate that they are profiled today on IfItsGood.
Fun Fact: They once played at the Lebowski Fest, a festival honoring the Coen Brothers’ cult classic The Big Lebowski. For this performance they covered many of the songs from the album’s soundtrack. The band has been playing together since 1999, almost 10 years now, but their biggest successes have come relatively recently, with their Takers and Leavers EP in 2006 and a full LP later that year called We All Belong. Enjoy some Dr. Dog:
